That's slang for Set Lighting Technician. This is a photo from the Amazon production of "The Last Tycoon" starring Kelsey Grammar where I portrayed a 1937 electrician in a background role. I went through makeup and wardrobe on two different days, for two looks in two scenes where I would be performing my task as a follow-spot operator on camera. I was paid one day as a non-union background and one day under the SAG contract; The Screen Actors Guild has stringent rules about when you can and can't hire non-union extras and that's how it broke down. Of course, I also got paid the IATSE union rate for my job as a SLT.
